Party Time

Well hey it was that time again. The big night out occasion had arisen. There was a goal to be achieved to, but we'll come back to that later. So where did we start, well at work as usual. This time though it was in Dayton, Ohio, US. I am amazed these folks know how to party, but a small group have been learning from the British groups we keep sending over. The assimilation process is slow but we are making a difference.

So the network started up and messages began flowing between the various parties involved. This was a slow process as some of them were off site but they eventually got through. And the plan slowly emerged, primarily the aims being food and drink. My goal, well that was to talk to someone about something. Simple that ain't it, no way, it's a challenge. Well pizza was chosen as the food for the night and a suitable venue chosen. Someone had the forethought to check for beer, which they served, woopee.

Goldfish Brain

A time was chosen, and everyone was ready to meet up. Whilst we are still in the work context lets mention this other person again, lets call her X. "Goldfish brain" would be another way to describe them. They have this habit or mentioning something, which they then either totally forget about, OR bring it up 10 minutes later, but always they forget when it counts. Its terrible really, I am thinking maybe I should get some labels printed with her name and address, so if she gets lost or looses something it will always get home. I definitely think one of those GPS tracking devices being sold to give to kids would be handy too.

Well being a total no go with driving, can't even get a license, I have to be ferried around by kind people, or pay taxis lots of money. Well I got an offer of a ride from miss forgetful. So I get my arse down to the lobby to wait. The time comes and goes, and I'm thinking here we go, she forgotten about picking me up. Oh well, suppose I can go watch some more TV for another night, kind of used to it now. But no she comes tearing down the drive. A miracle. So hop in the car and we head off. Now I had been thinking that maybe I should call her up and remind her of the CDs she was meant to give to the others we are meeting up with, but I thought no maybe she would think I had this thing about her forgetting stuff.

Well we head off down the road, and then she screams "Oh shit". First reaction from me was that we were going to crash or something, I was thinking about something and wasn't paying attention to the surroundings. Then I thought, yep she forgot the CDs, and it was, she left them behind at home. So we tear off down the road back to her place to get them. She likes her music, so wacks up the volume to ear bleeding levels to relieve some stress for forgetting something again.

We get there she runs in grabs the CDs, and we head off to the destination.

Time to Eat

Well the others aren't going to turn up till a bit later she tells me. Good timing really, might get to talk to her at last without interruption. Yeah right. We get in and well I need a drink and quick. So we grab a couple of beers and go sit down. I have no idea what I am going to say or how to start so kind of bubble around talking about other things for a bit. Downing the beer quick time so I can get another down me quick enough. Get to the second bottle, and slowly warming up. Where having a good laugh as usual at this point, then the other phone in and we find they are going to be a bit later still. Fine by me got that bit of time to chat. Kind of working around to it and then RING. Her mobiles off again, she takes a quick look at it, and oh right it's the BF. So she excuses herself and walks outside to chat. Seemed like an age she was gone, and meanwhile I've been simmering a bit and gone of the boil. Well before you know it the others turn up and there goes the opportunity. God what a nightmare just to say something which is really simple, but is complicated by a lot of other things. Guess it will never be told now, unless there is another occasion to do so which seems unlikely, kind of like she knows what is going to be said and wants to avoid it.

So we order the pizza and get some more drinks. We already had chosen our selection so not long before they come back and we dig in. Then some digital cameras are produced and we all starting browsing. Some very strange and funny shots are included there. Some are actually bizarre and probably need some censoring. And then we here some stories from X about taking photographs in strange circumstances. Like a photo wearing a necklace, where she didn't have anything else on at the time. She also took pictures of some boot she was wearing in a similar situation. Very risqué.

We then got round to telling other funny stories. A couple of us told some funny stories. I contributed the tale of one of the guys from work who got chatted up at a hotel just down the road in Cincinnati by another bloke. You can read about that one in another of these stories "The Cincinnati Six".

At this point one of the others, the veggie amongst us. Goes to stand up to get something and steps in a piece of ham and pineapple pizza that fell on the floor earlier. Distress is a word that only lightly reflects his reaction. He just stood on a dead piece of animal, what to do about it. Well hey it's a good photo opportunity so out come the cameras while the poor guy is standing there on one foot, and we are all laughing. Its beginning to hurt my stomach all this laughing. And like it has been for a while now, it doesn't help feeling so screwed up inside on one hand, and then having so much fun on the other. You end up in a right mixed up turmoil. Well finally the pizza is removed from his foot, and he carries on.

Time for a Drink

Well we finish up the pizza. Eventually sort out the bill between us. And then head out for the nearest bar. That being about 2 minutes walk away, but being in the US we drive over in about 30 seconds. It's a nice noisy pub with sports like darts and pool to. So we go sit down at a table with some drinks and see whats going on.

I went to get some drinks for the girls, and unusually I wasn't asked for my ID, must be getting old. Well I did get asked for some ID, for the girls, hehehe they weren't impressed. But persuaded the girl behind the bar she didn't need to see them, as they were out with our bunch.

Shortly after getting some drinks a few of us went to play some darts, better than sitting around having to sit and look. Couple of the others got their first so they played out a game, and I sat round waiting. Then we got a three way game going, which was fun. Took my mind off things for a bit, then X joined in. Oh well its nice to spend time there I guess. We started another game for four people this time, and surprise, surprise she disappeared after a short bit on the phone again. Well someone had to take her turn so I did, not putting any effort into it, but managed somehow to put her in front. DAMN. These darts were weird, well it was an electric dartboard, so the darts had plastic points. They weren't sharp at all, and were pretty damn bendy, so they had a habit of bouncing out of the board, or the end just got bent.

Well after the darts, we went over to play pool. Some of the others had already started playing. Now this would normally be fun, but my mind definitely wasn't in it. First time I met up with X properly was playing pool. So this was like a really bad dejavu. Well I can still play the game, and not bad at it either. Although I think at this point I probably had, had a little too much to drink. I came to that conclusion after I started doing GI Joe moves, crawling around, and diving under the pool table. That's about the usual behaviour you could expect from me while being around her.

Its even worse because she plays around, just her being friendly, but its kind of annoying as it makes me miss her even more. She keeps playfully punching me, so hey I do it in return, no way I am going to allow her to get away with that. Then we start of bumping each others bums together.

Enough of the reminiscing, lets get back to the main story. Well people were buying drinks all the time, so I got in a round of something unusual like everything else seemed to be, no idea what we were actually drinking. I got something which was meant to be spicy and strong, and vaguely remember it being called fire water or some such name. I think that was the point I really began to feel ill. Think my stomach was messed up for several reasons, and the drinks just finished me off.

Time to Go

Okay gonna puke now, sudden feeling of really sick, and major depressed again. Damn all I have to do is talk to X about it and that's it. Out in the open and that's it. I am pretty sure I know what the answer is going to be, pretty damn clear from stuff she has said and does. But I want to hear it from her. Well had to get out of there for a bit so went for a stagger outside. Found a nice grassy nole at the side of the place to get sit and mope. Well alright then had a little crying session too. Also threw up some more, that last drink whatever it was did not agree with me at all, think it was called "Fire water" or some other strange name. Well eventually felt like going back in. And joined the others for some more fun, not that I felt much like having fun at that point. Then went and chatted with a urinal for a bit. Stupid thing is at this point I actually felt like talking to X but now wasn't the right time, hey doubt if we could have had a conversation easily.

Then it was time to leave, so we all packed up and piled into the cars. Gladly someone else had taken X's keys and drove her car with a few of us in. We head off, and I am the first to be deposited at my hotel. So leave them to it. Next day I find out that they had to go back as X had forgotten her Visa card, come on this girl could forget for her country if it were a sport.

A Hard Day

Next day X tells me she has driven in after getting 2 hours sleep and coming in early. God I worry about her enough without her doing silly things like that. Probably still pissed as a newt and driving, good job it isn't that far. She says she drove slow, which I find a little hard to swallow (bit like the idea of food at this point), as she likes to go a little fast.

Well we both spent the morning feeling a little iffy, that's me and X obviously. As I'm visiting the office, I have to find a free desk whilst there, so I found a bay not being used. It has all the power sockets under the desk, so I simply ran the laptop off the battery. No way I was going to be crawling around under the desk in my state. I popped round to see how she was doing, and she didn't seem to happy. Wasn't sure if it was partly to do with me, so I decided to clear off again.

I wasn't really too interested in doing any work even without the residual effects of yesterday, so I just played about with some simple stuff. I ended up listening to the CD she had done for me as well. Had a nice mix of stuff on it. Not that I really listen to music that much, but it was stuff that if I heard I would probably try and get a copy of at some point to add to my mix of things. There was some weird thing in the middle which I didn't like, some Emenem track, so I skipped it. Ended up sending her my little review of the music, just one of those stupid thing I used to do with her. I knew she wasn't there so went back to surfing the web for something.

Well I got some reply later on and it mentioned the track I skipped, so I went back to listen to it. Found that it was just the beginning that sounded shit, and the rest of it wasn't too bad. I would say I didn't like the track as a whole, and probably wouldn't have got it based on hearing the beginning, but the rest of it was okay and listenable.

Then she popped on IM to tell me she was having a similar problem with working. Well I just ended up chatting to her, it was a hell of a lot easier than having to think about work, and well I like doing it. She left early that day as she couldn't carry, later I found out why she was particularly bad and a little touchy. Well I had to stick out the rest of the day working.

That's pretty much the end of this story. Only to say I didn't really recover for a few days more, just about sufficient enough to fly home when needed.
